Anine Hagemann

Ph.d. stipendiat

My primary research interests are peacebuilding and state fragility, security and foreign policy and diplomatic practice. I am also interested in sociology of knowledge approaches to International Relations theory and practice.

My PhD project focuses on the development of Protection of Civilians policy in the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, on forms of statecraft in conflict zones and of diplomatic practice as negotiation of policy, power and resistance.

I am currently on leave from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where I have worked since 2009. I was an advisor to the UN Mission in South Sudan in 2015-2016. Before this, I worked as head of the political section at the Danish Embassy to Nepal in 2013-15, with responsibility for the Danish development programs within the fields of peacebuilding, human rights, good governance and rule of law. I have previously worked on Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as Somalia and the Horn of Africa, including counter piracy. I have worked on the Danish stabilisation and whole-of-government strategy, the Danish Peace and Stabilisation Fund as well as the New Deal and the Danish Co-Chairmanship of the Dialogue for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding.

In the fall semester of 2017, I teach the elective course: Peacebuilding: Theories, Methods and Culture. For more information, please see: http://kurser.ku.dk/course/ASTK15719U

I am also part of the teacher’s team for the master’s level program: Specialization in IR, diplomacy and conflict studies. For more information, please see: http://polsci.ku.dk/uddannelser/kandidat/specialization_in_ir_diplomacy_and_conflict_studies/
