    Short presentation

Associate professor in public administration and leadership. Main research and teaching topic: reforms in the public sector. I have studied the recent Danish local government reform and the so-called “Quality Reform” intensively at a national, regional and local level focusing on political and administrative leadership, co-worker influence and citizen participation, among other what constitutes “core quality”: the quality being created in the interplay between the street level bureaucrat and the individual citizen. As a social science basic researcher I am searching for changes in patterns of behaviour of different groups of actors. And in my applied research I get engaged into interactive processes, where researchers and practitioners develop new knowledge together.

    Plans for 2014

Ongoing work on a series of theorygenerating and methodological articles.

Municipal Merger Processes: The research is based on a summary of experiences aiming at creating so-called ”transverse processes” related to the Danish local government reform in a comparison with similar reforms in other countries.

Transverse Leadership Processes: This research is based on experiences from so-called fourth generation leadership development, latest in the form of interactive research- and development activities related to the flexible master education in public governance (MPG).

Pragmatic Evaluation: The research is based on experiences with the application of this special approach to evaluation.

Urban Political Decentralisation: This research is based on evaluations of the experiences in the municipality of Copenhagen focusing on the attempt to create transverse processes connected to urban district councils in a comparison with similar councils in other countries.

    Ongoing research project in 2014:

Participation in a research project about governance in a time of crises (headed by Hanne Foss Hansen and Caroline Grøn)

    Teaching activities:

For the time being in Danish only and connected to the MPG-programme (Master of Public Governance)
