Summer Schools at the Department of Political Science 2012
Do you want to improve your competencies during the summer holidays?
Summer Schools at the Department of Political Science are intensive seminars with a duration of 1-2 weeks in the month of August. Summer Schools are directed at Master level students at the Department of Political Science, credit transfer students from other Danish Universities or EU/EEA countries and others such as professionals within the relevant field of study from companies, ministries, public and private organizations and research- or teaching institutions. All Summer Schools are at Master level.
In August 2012 the Department of Political Science offers the following Summer Schools:
- The Rise of China in Domestic, Regional and Global Contexts (August 1th-10th 2012)
- Politics, State, and, Society - theoretical reflections in a historical context (August 13th-24th 2012)
- IARU and CAST "Security: Theories, Practices and Dilemmas of Widening the Concept" (August 13th-24th 2012)
- EU og virksomhederne: fra København til Bruxelles (August 6th-17th 2012)
- Sommerskole i Dansk forsvarspolitik og strategiske studier (August 13th-23th 2012)

Who can apply
Master level students from Danish Universities and the Department of Political Science
Anyone with a B.Sc. in political science or a bachelor degree within a relevant field of study can apply for the courses. Students enrolled as full-time students at another Danish University may be enrolled as credit transfer students.
Exchange students
Applicants from EU/EEA countries with a relevant background can be enrolled as credit transfer students if they are enrolled at a IARU-University or the University of Copenhagen. They must submit a preliminary approval for a credit transfer of the course from their home university, a copy of their student ID from the University of Copenhagen along with the application form. We CANNOT accept your application before you have been formally enrolled at the University of Copenhagen.
Open university students
Applicants who are not full-time students at a Danish University or students from an EU/EEA country who are not enrolled at the University of Copenhagen can enroll in a course under the Open University scheme. The tuition fee is DKK 2300,- (The Course: "Security: Theories, Practices and Dilemmas of Widening the Concept: IARU/Copenhagen University Students 0,-)
Ph.D. students who are not enrolled at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Copenhagen are enrolled in courses as Open University students.
Housing in Copenhagen
Please note that it is your own responsibility to find housing in Copenhagen. The Department of Policial Science cannot assist you in finding a place to live in Copenhagen. You can read more about housing in Copenhagen at The International Office's web page (indsæt link) .
Application deadline
The application deadline for all courses is May 1st 2012. CAST/IARU March 2nd 2012.
Application procedures
There is one application form for all applicants. Students within the Department of Political Science must also submit an application form, since there is a limited number of places available.
Applications must be sent to the Department of Political Science (c/o Rikke Bartholdy) or electronically to rb@ifs.ku.dk .
All applicants receive a reply on May 15th 2012.
The study administration will register all students for the course and the exam. Credit transfer students and students enrolled as Open University students will receive a letter with information about student ID-card etc.
Price
The tuition fee for Open University students and EU/EEA students who are not enrolled at the University of Copenhagen is 2300,-.
Courses are free of charge for master level students enrolled at the Department of Political Science and credit transfer students enrolled at other Danish Universities.
Ph.D. students from outside the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Copenhagen must apply as open university students and thus pay tuition fee.
Exams
Summer Schools are seminars that constitute 10 ECTS credits. The prerequisites for passing a Summer School is active participation and the submission of a written assignment.
Cancelling of enrollment
There is a limited number of places available. Therefore, it is very important that you cancel your enrollment as soon as possible, if you are unable to participate in the course. Cancellations are send by email to rb@ifs.ku.dk.
