Honorary Doctorate Lecture: “The American Political Economy in Comparative Perspective”

The Department of Political Science has the honour of hosting Professor Kathleen Thelen for her honorary doctorate lecture on ‘The American Political Economy in Comparative Perspective’ on 16th November 2018.

On this day, as part of the Annual Commemoration (Årsfest), the UCPH will confer an honorary doctorate to Professor Thelen.

Kathleen Thelen is Ford Professor of Political Science at MIT and Immediate Past President of the American Political Science Association. Her scholarly contributions to political science are numerous and among the most prominent ones. Her research focuses on comparative political science, institutions and institutional change. Thelen’s most recent book, ‘Varieties of Liberalization: The New Politics of Social Solidarity’ (Cambridge University Press 2014) examines trends in industrial relations, education and training, and labor market policy across five countries, including Denmark. The book received the Barrington Moore Prize and was co-winner of Best Book in the European Politics and Society Section.
