This chapter, the last of four that looks at a particular security field within a single Nordic country, advances three main points. First, it traces how meaning has been attributed and imbued into the concept security in the Danish Defence Commissions of 1988, 1997, and 2008. The chapter demonstrates that conceptual changes to security have established an uncertain future as the ultimate frame of reference for Danish security and defence policy. Second, the chapter shows how the changes to concept of security have influenced the development of a novel managerial security practice regime in the Danish Defence. It argues that we experience the rise of a decentralised and individualised security practice regime where managers have to expect the unexpected and decide the undecidable. Finally, the chapter discusses the democratic challenges of these findings in light of elsewhere observed tendency towards decentralisation of security practices not captured by traditional political, bureaucratic, and hierarchical logics
